Prayer At The Grand Canyon’s South Rim (Elijah Prayer)

I have not come here alone.
Condors circle and sail
in the currents of the wind,
a doe delicately prances
between Juniper bushes
and a thousand foot ledge,
a chipmunk disappears
over a rock’s lip,
a raven sings
her crude song,
a couple rustles
their packs in silent awe,
an elk slowly munches
on its morning meal,
a squirrel looks expectantly
after bumping my feet.
I am not alone.
