My wife tagged me. I am not very good at keeping up with these sort of things. So, here it goes. The ground rules are:

(1) Pick up the nearest book of 123 pages or more. No cheating!
(2) Turn to page 123.
(3) Find the first 5 sentences.
(4) Post the next 3 sentences.
(5) Tag 5 people (I am too lazy to keep the chain going).

Okay my closest book was “The Painter of Modern Life and other Essays” by Charles Baudelaire. On Pg. 123 there is an essay on Wagner and the 3 sentences are:

“They are like those superb visions which the Middle Ages displayed on the walls of its churches or wove into magnificent tapestries. Their general appearance is decisively legendary: Tannhauser, Lohegrin and The Flying Dutchman–each one is a legend. Moreover it is not only an inclination natural to every poetic mind that has led Wagner towards this apparent speciality; it is a formal principle derived from a study of the favorable conditions of lyric drama.”

So there you have it, 17 hours of Wagner is like the best the church has to offer.
