Would you rather write a poem that survives in fragments as part of the Western Canon, or lead one of the great movements of world history? Actually it was a sentence that I had written in my notebook. So, I’m not sure I have more of an explanation. Maybe I will write a sermon around it.

oh man, i dont know, those both are lofty aspirations. i dont really see myself as making much of a dent in either.
but a sermon would be awesome!

Comment by krislinatin

Yes,yes. I’m looking forward to the sermon as well.

I am supposed to preach at Park Road Community Church’s 77th anniversary celebration. I think I can work this question into the conversation.

I would rather fade into history knowing that I did more good than harm.

Archeology, definetly.
History is transient and quite often rewritten. It is diluted with the asperations of those who write and read it.
Granted, archeology is subject, likewise, to interpritation, there is a, shall we say, fosilized record. It (I) can be returned to and studied again. As to where histroy is akin to one of those experiments where you whisper something to someone and they whisper it to someone else and so on and so forth. It gets way distroted the further it goes.
