Out the window
dimmed black
by protective screens
the first true
day of Spring
jostles the
Japanese Magnolia’s
agitated blossoms.
The fruit of tomorrow
is much more satisfying
ripe and bursting pink,
but today it still holds
its most precious clothing
for a pageant
of fragrant beauty.
