Often there are two types of spiritual seekers in our world. The first hears Peter’s phrase, “Now I know that God shows no partiality” and it is from a position of arrogance. We disbelieve that the divinity can possibly love and accept those who are outside my religion, clan or geographical proximity. Ours is an experience quite akin to Peter’s after seeing the unclean animals lowered three times in a vision and told not only to eat, but that G-d had reversed the divine judgement on their gourmet/ethical admissibility. We of the first group are told that what G-d makes clean, G-d makes clean with little help from our own narcissistic mirrors.
The second group of spiritual seekers hears Peter’s words and is filled with gratitude. These words unburden our feelings of inadequacy and confront us with the infinite possibility that we are acceptable to that which forms, nurtures and keeps us…(about here is where our plane landed).
