Psalm 7

I want to ignore the bloodthirsty
Aspects of my God
The justice meted upon enemies.
Yet there are no Gods
Who do not show justice
Without using violence.
I think to myself,
“That cannot be you on the parapets
Aiming your arrows”
Although I hear steel sharpening
I will not see the sparks
From your swift sword.
It is from a discomforting ally
That I accept help from you.
Yet, you are unfazed by my trepidation
And continue to see
The battlefield with divine eyes.
