Psalm 9

My need for your justice
To lay waste to mine enemies
Is a frightening sight to behold.
It is a scorched earth policy
That has no prisoners
And concentrates the worst ills
Against their lives.
In almost the same breath
I shout to you for mercy.
Hoping that you will rejoin
My hope in dead places.
Knowing that I do not control
Either your justice or mercy
Humbles me Lord.
Give my enemies
A portion of your mercy
And me a portion of your justice
